IBMC #04: Hunt a Haiku Challenge is to pick any one haiku and write your interpretation to it. You can build a story and make the haiku part of it. You can continue the haiku and make another poem out of it. Let the creativity wander and hunt it down the way you want. (Check the link for more)

My entry for the following poem is:

Haiku 01
expressions of face
happy sad angry frown shy
face is the index

The haiku says that the face is a sign or measure of emotions we feel. Our faces are the palette to the canvas of our minds. The Haiku further enumerates the various range of emotions that humanize us. I would like to continue the Haiku with a a Tanka of my own. A Tanka is a Japanese poem in five lines (5-7-5-7-7) and thirty-one syllables, giving a complete picture of an event or mood.

but when in the world
I wish to poker my face
wonder, trust, disgust
a cryptic game in my mind
a constant portrait of mine
